Mellor have released their first new material of the year, single ‘ Helsinki ’ via AWAL .
After a reshuffle of members the new line-up has settled on: Gary Kingham on vocals, Sam Igoe on drums,
Kristian Bell on guitar, and Josh Woodward. Kristian, Gary, and Josh have known each other since college, and
Sam joined the band thereafter. The lads took their moniker in homage to a certain Joe Strummer aka John
Mellor. Since the cementation of the new lineup the band have felt their most comfortable and natural, with this
being reflected through the energy and excitement of their most recent recordings.
In classic DIY fashion, Reading’s Mellor are yet to work with management, label or booking agent. Support for
Mellor has come from far and wide – they’ve featured on the Spotify Indie list, Transistor and Hot New bands
playlists, Apple Music’s Breaking Bands playlist, had national and local radio support from Tom Robinson, John
Kennedy, Frank Skinner and most recently Abbie McCarthy on BBC Radio 1, who hailed previous single ‘Safe Word’
as a “Straight up Indie banger”. Mellor have been hitting the festival scene hard, playing HURL Fest , Butefest ,
Truck Festival , Tex Fest , Are You Listening , Tramlines and Camden Rocks.
